Cindy H. Petty
Ms. Petty is a Conductor, Educator, and Violinist who is dedicated to sharing
her passion for music through the rehearsal and performance of professional
literature in a warm, cooperative, yet demanding environment. In addition to
her position as Musical Director and Conductor of the Oregon Pro Arte Chamber
Orchestra (OPACO); the Oregon Pro Arte Youth Chamber Orchestra (OPAYCO), and
the Pro Arte Conservatory Strings (PACS), Ms. Petty is the Music Director and
Conductor of the Jewish Community Orchestra of Portland. She also maintains a
private studio where she teaches violin / viola and coaches small chamber
ensembles. As a violinist, she performs with the Newport Symphony and the
Bloch Festival Orchestra. In 2004 she was honored to perform as the Guest
Concert Master of the Sapporo Philharmonic in Japan.
Previously Ms. Petty served as the Principal Conductor of the Portland Youth
Philharmonic Conservatory Orchestra; Musical Director and Conductor of the
Jordan Symphony Orchestra; Bingham Symphony; Granite Youth Symphony Orchestra;
Idaho Youth Symphony; Music Director and Principal Guest Conductor of the
Lincoln Youth Symphony. Guest Conductor, Sapporo Philharmonic, Newport
Symphony Orchestra, Rose City Chamber Orchestra; and has held the post of
Regional Chairman for the National Conductors Guild. Ms. Petty's experience
and love as a music educator has spanned 17 years as she has actively brought
String Education into the public school system.
Ms. Petty has made guest conducting appearances with numerous orchestras in
Chicago, New York - Carnegie Hall, Washington D.C.; North Carolina,
Pennsylvania, Colorado, Washington, Oregon, Michigan, California, Montana, and
Utah, and is sought after as a clinician and adjudicator for National Music
Festivals, All-State Orchestras and Youth Honors Orchestras throughout the
United States.
