Qualifications:
This competition is for young composers up to and including age 23.
Each original entry should be a work between 5 and 12 minutes in
length and must be written for one of the following compliments: 1-
full string orchestra 2- Full string orchestra plus winds up to the
compliment of a full chamber orchestra (pairs of winds and
percussion).
Deadline:
Entries must be received in full score, a set of parts and a midi
recording by February 28, 2011

MUSICIANS SCHOLARSHIP FUND***
The Oregon Pro Arte Chamber
Orchestra has established the Young Musicians Scholarship
Fund to bring to talented young musicians the financial assistance
necessary to further their musical studies. The “aid
package” can consist of providing music instruction,
reimbursement of private lesson expense or instrument rental.
The Young Musicians
Scholarship Fund is open to:
- Ages 12 to 23 years
- Young musicians who have
played their instrument for at least 2 years
- Those that have a clear and
demonstrated financial need
- Those that have been recommended
by their school teachers, private teachers or individuals/organizations
with knowledge of a potential candidate
- Those with a grade point
average of at least a 2.5
The application process
consists of:
- A filled out application

- A copy of a written recommendation
by a music teacher, individual/organization
- A confidential written statement
by a parent or guardian as to the financial need
The decision process consists of:
- A committee review of all
applicants
- A binding decision as to
the type and extent of the Scholarship
- Notification to the recipient
The Scholarship awards consist of:
- A maximum of a $1,000 award
per person
- Awards are good for 1 year
or until award is exhausted
- Awards may consist of the
following:
- Private lesson expense
- Ensemble tuition
expense
- Providing a qualified
instructor
- Providing instrument
rental
- Providing opportunity
for Music Camp or music education classes
